1. POLLEN TIME

I thought this wasp’s front legs looked like he was scheming and really excited about pollen time.

  2. 28mm in the mail and huge redwoods = happy cam this weekend

My wife and I are headed to the huge redwoods in humboldt this weekend so I finally pulled the trigger on that shiny new 28mm 1.8 I’ve been eyeing.

I really like taking picture of huge trees, but I hate my 18-135mm, and my next widest lens is a 40mm prime. That was a bad combination and it needed fixing.

Hope I can figure it out and get you guys some good pictures this weekend!

Any tips for shooting big trees from my photographer friends out there?

    Thanks for the advice guys!

    • Shoot early and at sunset, likely fog and lighting is the best
    • Stitch together for huge trees and landscapes
    • Put something in for scale so you can really feel the immensity of the trees

I’ve been sick for days, finally took a run/jog/walk tonight. Felt great. Sunset was beautiful.

  13. Blue Damselfly Head Sex

This blew my mind. Damselflies (and dragonflies) often hold onto each other before mating. This doesn’t look like a nice first date!

  14. Purple Shelf Mushroom Gill Pattern

The underside of this shelf mushroom was so beautiful. It was originally yellow, I like it better purple.

  15. Spiny Caterpillar On My Index Finger

I am pretty f***** excited about this photo. That is a ridiculously tiny and intricate caterpillar on my index finger. Its hard to get good macro shots with one hand but this one made my day.
